As a San Diego Wedding photographer, I love the beautiful wedding venues that is has to offer. Whether you want something tropical, beach, garden, rustic, it is all available to you. In 2021 I had a couple hotel weddings. I am a huge fan of weddings that lend themselves to lots of natural light as well as a cool outdoor environment. In this La Valencia Wedding Photos | Brooke + Jared I had beautiful natural light and the gorgeous La Jolla Cove right outside! La Valencia is a well known hotel in La Jolla filled with lots of history and incredible backdrops and views!
It is always ideal to have your couples get ready on site. At La Valencia, there is a bridal suite that is right next to the reception area. The bridal suite is spacious, but not entirely lit naturally. The reception area next door has beautiful natural light and the black and white checkered tile is photo ready! The groom room is on the second floor past the lobby. It really is a wine room. When you open the balcony doors you get some good natural light. I moved the groom around to the conference rooms too.
The great thing about the getting ready rooms is that they are far enough apart you don’t risk running into one another. Of course always keep tabs on whereabouts but feel free to take your client individually around the hotel. As the bride was finishing her hair and make up, I took the groom around the hotel. Then he hung out in the wine room and I took the bride out for a little but mainly kept her away from the guests and crowds. La Valencia is very popular.
Besides having the beautiful hotel, remember La Jolla Cove is just across the street. If the tide is low, you can have access to the cliffs and rocks on the small beaches there. It is absolutely stunning! Make sure to allocate enough time to walk there and back, apart from shooting there too.
