SDSU Grad Portraits | Hannah

As a San Diego grad portrait photographer, it’s fun to visit all the different colleges and universities in San Diego. They each have their one beautiful personality with wowing buildings and epic landscapes. Offering the best backdrops for your San Diego graduation backdrops. Added bonus is that the majority of grads booking their portrait sessions in the spring time so we get the floral bloom! That’s not to say you can’t book your portraits in the fall! San Diego does have some great fall foliage, you just have to know where to look! In these SDSU Grad Portraits | Hannah was hugged by the most beautiful floral patch we came across while walking the grounds of San Diego State University.

In previous grad portraits, I have had grads bring their parents, their partner and their friends. Hannah was the first to bring her dog! It was so fun having a dog in the shoot. I have a dog too, so I will always be open to having your dog or dogs in the shoot. When having a dog in your session, I always like to mix it up. I want some of the shots with the dog and some without. That way you have a great variety to choose from!

When shooting grad portraits, let your client know that the photos can be a mix of outfit with cap and gown outfit and in-between. Some can be full cap and gown. If they don’t want to mess up their hair or don’t want to wear the cap, they can hold it. Also, if they don’t want to feel like they are wearing a potato sack, they can leave the gown open. There is no right or wrong way. There is only their preference. It is important to let them know that they have options so they don’t think they have to wear the whole ensemble the entire time.
