Santee Courthouse Wedding + Balboa Park Desert Garden Elopement | Sherry + Elias

As a Santee Courthouse wedding photographer, I love the minimal and desert feels that the ceremony site has. The Santee Courthouse was recently remodeled in the last two years. It’s a great option if you like more of a desert feel. In addition you have the nearby parks, one with boulders, if you want to take your courthouse wedding on an adventure. In this Santee Courthouse Wedding + Balboa Park Desert Garden Elopement | Sherry + Elias decided on the Santee marriage license location and the desert garden for their formal portraits. The desert garden is located at Balboa Park.

I have heard from couples that it is much easier to book appointments at the Santee courthouse. Many couples have found it difficult to book at the San Diego location. To alleviate the stress, I highly recommend considering the Santee office and also the San Marcos location. You can still add other locations wherever you end up having your ceremony. That is the beauty of courthouse weddings. You have all the options at your disposal.

The vegetation at the Santee location stays pretty much the same except for the green moss. That is seasonal and occurs in winter and spring. The other green, cactus looking, plants are there all year. At the Desert Garden in Balboa Park, it is the same ALL YEAR ROUND. It is pretty reliable. Sometime there are some flowers that bloom in the spring time. No matter the time of the year though, there will always be cacti there.

Veils at courthouse weddings are a fun detail! I love shooting brides with veils and showing off the train! The longer the better! I like using the nearby terrain and nature to hold the train up. This way you avoid photoshopping people out. I use a plant or stick to carefully place the train on top and then slowly have the bride walk to pull the train out. Patience is key when working with trains.
