Scripps Beach Family Photos | Bravo

We are entering Fall and San Diego family portrait season is underway. It’s so fun to capture families and extra fun when your clients come back and you get to see how the kids have grown and the families have grown 🙂 Although it’s fall family photos, many families still opt for a beach family portrait session. We are lucky that we can still go to the beach in the fall! I do enjoy going to a park and seeing the changing of the leaves though too.

This session was cool as one of the grandmothers joined as well. I have been having more clients bring extended family into the family portrait session and why to, the more the merrier! They also make for great gifts for the holiday season 😉

I love when my clients are game for anything, even getting their feet wet! When doing beach sessions it’s fun and natural to basically have the parents play with the kid/s whether it’s on the sand or in the water. I always tell parents to forget I am there and to explain to the little ones their surroundings.

The weather was warm but the clouds were rolling in. That tends to happen in the summertime in San Diego. It can be sunny and clear all day and then all of a sudden, right before sunset, the clouds take over and it gets gloomy. It’s like the reverse of May gray and June gloom.

I get asked a lot what to wear during family portraits and I always first say to wear whatever makes you feel comfortable. Comfort is key because if you are not, it will show in the photos! Then I would suggest to wear solid colors, or plaid or florals. Any other pattern might be too distracting. Stripes work, but I like thicker stripes than pinstripe.
