This is a shoot where you are needing visual content for your service business. It’s called a personal brand shoot, because you are the brand. You provide a service, not a product. So this applies to many professions, from chefs, to real estate agents, to coaches, trainers and more! A personal branding session is a way for you to communicate your business services but also shed some light about who you are. Here, M + S are showing both and sharing insight into their family life too! How formal or casual you want to be is totally up to you and your style of work. If you are formal, suite and tie, etc., then you should choose your photoshoot wardrobe accordingly. If you are more business casual, then go for that look. There is no right or wrong here, it’s a reflection of you. Of course, you can ask your photographer for feedback on outfits and what they think will work better considering the backdrops.
Preparing for your personal branding is just as important as your actual shoot day. The more prepared you arrive, the better the shoot will go. I always like to have creative calls with my personal branding clients. At least two! The first one is to get an idea of their vision, objective and goals of the shoot. Then I ask them some questions and sometimes they need to reflect on it and map it out and that is what the second call is for. To review the action items for the shoot and confirm a location that reflects that. Location can be your own home, a listing (for RE Agents) or a space you rent off of PEERSPACE.
