Scripps Beach Maternity + Family Photos

Themes can be fun, whether it’s a themed party or a themed dinner. How about a themed photoshoot!? YES! For this San Diego maternity & family photos: Scripps Beach Boardwalk, we went back in time!

I worked with a great team! Emily did an incredible job on their retro makeup. She is a champion at that natural look. The last thing anyone wants is to look caked. Laura gave me hair envy with those beautiful curls. I want Laura to do my hair like this everyday! For all the nostalgic props, Julia, who is also a wedding planner, provided us with amazing decor. I wanted to take that Coca Cola umbrella home with me!

The suspenders were just too cute and River seemed to like them. Although towards the end of the photoshoot he wanted to get rid of them. He was a good sport about them throughout the shoot though! These mommy and me moments were just too cute!! He loved the balloons too! For a moment we thought the balloons might carry him into the sky! The vintage bike was also a nice touch! Very Now + Then if you will.

Not only was this River’s first shoot, but it was his first time trying pink lemonade!! He loved it!!! Could not get enough of it. Thank you In N Out!! You have a new converter. He kept drinking from his moms and dads mugs. Cue, sugar high! Oops!

The pink lemonade kicked in and River was all giggles! We take a minute to remember that Alix had a bun in the oven as this was a maternity / family shoot. We would ask River to point to the baby and he would. It was adorable!
