As a La Jolla family photographer, the fall season is the busiest time of the year for family portraits. I can see why that can happen, as many people like to send holiday cards out. So they want their photos taken right before that. Although you really could take them earlier in the year and then send them. San Diego has great weather all year round. It’s also a time where I get to see a lot of families again for their photos. Some of the families I have also had the privilege of photographing their wedding too! Their family shoots have been here over the last years. It’s a cool way to see how the place stays the same, but the people grow and change. Also see how the families grow. Cuvier Park is a beautiful place where people get their family portraits taken and also weddings and elopements! There is a lot of variety in the backdrops. You have the blue ocean, all kinds of greenery and if you walk up the street you can find a lovely pink house!
Family portraits usually involve babies and toddlers. Always advise your clients to bring treats and toys! Please advise that treats should not be colored or crumbly! You don’t want to risk stains on the kids clothes or crumbs on the face. Speaking of stains, you should also advise your clients to also wait till they arrive to the shoot location before changing their kids into their photo clothes. If they wear the clothes on the way to the shoot, you run the risk of spills as well.
