La Jolla Beach Maternity Photos | C + A
As a La Jolla Maternity photographer, there are so many beautiful beaches to photograph on! I feel like the most optimal time to shoot on the beach is at sunset during low tide. This fall/ winter I have been getting lots of low tide beach sunset sessions. There is something special about winter sunsets, the light is extra romantic. I was super excited for this La Jolla Beach Maternity Photos | C + A as I had done their family session last year. It’s so cool to see families expand. I took them to a more local private La Jolla beach, growing up here, I love to be able to share these beautiful locations.

When shooting portraits, I stick to two lenses. A 35mm and 85mm prime lens from CANON. They work extremely well in low light situations. Besides magic hour light, I love blue light hour! To be able to maximize that lighting, you need a powerful lens that can handle those conditions. I can always count on these prime lens to allow me to shoot every last bit of light.

When shooting maternity sessions, maternity dresses can definitely enhance the session! I always encourage two outfits. I love long flowy dresses, slips are good to show some leg. Dresses that can open to show the baby bump are fun too. It all depends on how comfortable the mom is. Dresses that are sheer work really well with sunset. Having the sun rays shine through and expose the silhouette with the. baby bump.

I would suggest to start booking your beach sessions according to the tide calendar. It will make your session so much more fun and entertaining. It gives your clients so much to explore and makes for great candid shots too!
