Encinitas Children’s Lifestyle Photos | Wild Wawa
As a San Diego lifestyle photographer, I get to work with lots of different brands. There is personal branding, where the person is the brand. These are sessions that include you, the person behind the brand, in a lifestyle way. You want to tie in topics with the photos you are posting of yourself. Then there are brands that creates the persona. Wild Wawa is a brand about free spirited kids! Whether you are a personal brand or a brand, it’s important to understand the message you want to convey. In these Encinitas Children’s Lifestyle Photos | Wild Wawa showcased the last two drops from their Fall 2023 collection.

This posts includes two different shoots. You can see how useful props come to play. Each drop had a particular look and the props that corresponded to it. I cannot stress enough, the importance of props. Especially when photographing children. You don’t want all the photos to be of them looking straight into the camera and smiling. That gets boring. When shooting lifestyle photos, you want the talent to be candid and in the element of the spirit of the session. By giving them props, they are distracted and natural.

We usually do kids shoot in the morning. Sometimes they are early morning and other times they are midmorning. I always prefer the earliest for most optimal light. If you are going to photograph in an area with lots of tree coverage, then you can get away with photographing later in the morning. Timing wise, you want to stagger your talent. You don’t want them all showing up at the same time and then waiting around. If they are waiting around, they will get bored and restless by the time it’s their turn! Staggering their call times makes for a smoother shoot. It’s also a good idea to mention to parents not to arrive too early. Cause then that defeats the purpose. No more than ten minutes prior to call time.
