UCSD Grad Portraits | JP
As a San Diego grad portrait photographer, the spring and early summer season are jam packed with grad portrait sessions. These are college and university grads, not to be confused with high school senior portraits. Those happen starting in the late summer and early fall. However, some grad portrait sessions can happen in the winter if they are graduating in the winter semester. UCSD is an amazing campus with lots of different backdrops. In these UCSD Grad Portraits | JP, did his photos in the early spring. Some seniors prefer to get them done before finals. Of course, you have to make sure you are able to get your cap and gown by then. Also any stoles you may want to use.
You don’t have to have all of your photos taken with cap and gown. In fact, you can choose not to use any at all! I like to mix it up and give you options. So some in complete cap and gown and then you can start peeling off some of the layers. You can leave the gown open, or choose to just use the stole, no gown. It all depends on you and what you feel most comfortable with. Some choose not to use the cap at all for fear of their hair getting messed up.
If you aren’t able to get the cap and gown ensemble in time before finals, I would suggest booking once you graduate. That way it’s like a reward and you can fully enjoy it. It’s great not to have to worry about studying for a final and really relaxing on your shoot. Of course, some may not be able to if they head back home to another hometown and have to leave immediately. Definitely make sure to book it when it’s not a hectic week.
