UCSD Grad Portraits | HM
As a UCSD grad photographer, I love shooting on campus at the Geisel library, or heading down to scripps beach for additional grad photos! Keep in mind you can have your photos taken wherever your department was in school. We can go to any part of campus that is open to us. In these UCSD Grad Portraits | HM we went on campus and the beach. I love visiting all the different campuses we have here in San Diego. San Diego is a pretty big sized college town, with universities like UCSD, USD, SDSU and more. As I have mentioned before, May/June, depending on your graduation date can get very busy for grad photos. The campuses get packed and it can get challenging to take photos. If you can get ahead of it or wait till graduation is over, it will be less overwhelming.

The great thing about the timing of grad photos is that there is a lot of greenery and flowers! It’s not too hot yet where plants start to dry out and turn brown/yellow. Most campuses have lots of beautiful garden and greenery areas so I do always suggest we do some photos on campus. I have had other clients though, that don’t use their campus at all. I had one who just wanted their grad photos taken at Balboa Park. So again, these are YOUR photos to have photographed wherever you feel like!

What to wear to your grad portrait session? There are a few options here. Full outfits, you can go full cap and down and not even worry about what you are wearing. You can wear your gown opened and thus have an outfit underneath that you want photographed. You can also not wear cap and gown (or hold it) and wear a cute outfit with your stols. Or just wear the cute outfit. Totally up to you. Also, you can add more time to your session if you want to wear multiple outfits. If you want a more formal one on campus where you do have to think about the shoes then that can be one look. Then you can go to the beach and be barefoot and wear a different outfit. Many grads take this opportunity to wear a nice outfit so they can have a headshot photo for their LinkedIn. Now that they are applying for career opportunities.
