UCSD Grad Photos | KW

As a UCSD grad portrait photographer, I still get some late grad photo sessions over the summer. Don’t feel like you have to get your grad photos taken before graduation. Unless of course you want it them ready for your graduation instagram post. If you aren’t rushed, then waiting till after graduation can be a benefit because you have a higher chance of getting a sunny sunset session. Usually UCSD grad photos are taken in May or June. It is very common for the coastal area of San Diego to experience fog. Especially around sunset and in the early morning, the times where grad portrait sessions take place. In this UCSD Grad Photos | KW, opted for two locations for her shoot. UCSD and Scripps Beach.

If you opt for two locations, know that you can wear a different outfit for each spot. Some choose to do that and others stay in the same outfit. Don’t feel obliged to wear the cap and or gown. You can hold them or have the gown open or not even wear the gown at all. These are your grad portraits and you are the decision maker. One thing I will request or suggest is that you iron or steam your stole. Many grads wait until the day of the shoot to actually open your grad outfit accessories and it comes out looking stiff.

If you choose a morning session and a double location, so beach and campus, make sure to bring a towel. Since you will be walking barefoot on the sand first, your feet will get dirty and sandy. You want to bring a small towel to wipe off the sand for the second half of your shoot which will be on campus and naturally you will be wearing shoes. Doesn’t hurt to be prepared.
