The Pearl Hotel Engagement Photos | N + M
As a San Diego engagement photographer, you can bet I am either at Balboa Park or one of San Diego’s beautiful beaches. So when I got asked to shoot at the Pearl Hotel, I was super excited! It’s a super cute and retro hotel, I had gone a couple times with my husband. It’s relatively small, a very quaint hotel, so there are a few main places to shoot at. In The Pearl Hotel Engagement Photos | N + M got to enjoy some drinks and transport themselves slightly back in time. The hotel lobby and bar were very accommodating for the shoot. Definitely ask ahead of time if you can shoot there if you are considering it! For those tight areas, definitely bring your wide lens!
What is great about the Pearl Hotel is that you can still shoot with natural light. There are windows all along the lobby bar and the along the pool area. I had brought my flash with me just in case, but was hoping I didn’t need it. With the being said, I did start the shoot earlier than normal to make sure we could utilize said light. In Point Loma, the sunlight ducks behind the hill, so you always want to start a bit earlier. There were some tight corners inside, but I had brought with me all of my Canon lenses so That I would be prepared for anything. Definitely bring your prime lenses too so you can really go wide.
Whenever you are photographing people holding drinks, you want these props to be BRIGHT! The more color, the more fun it looks in the photos! Bonus point if it has a cool flower or drink detail! The Aperol definitely was an eye catcher, and you can see, compared to the espresso martini, it makes a statement!
