Sunset Cliffs Engagement Proposal | C + C
As a San Diego engagement photographer, I love getting to meet all these couples celebrating such an important time in their lives! Getting to photograph a San Diego proposal adds exciting nerves to the session! Making sure everything takes place without a hitch! I always think I will be spotted and ruin the surprise but, so far so good! Doing prep work and strategy before photographing a proposal is always key. The more you help the proposer with his or her plan, the more at ease they will feel. If you are able to do a walk thru on site, before the proposal, I would highly suggest it! In these Sunset Cliffs Engagement Proposal | C + C had the magical ocean backdrop with late spring flowers still in bloom!

Even with cloudy, overcast skies, you can still have a beautiful San Diego engagement session! The trick is to start earlier! As the day goes on in to the evening, it gets darker. If you have overcast skies, you don’t want to have your session at the normal “magic hour light”. So the trick is to start two to three hours before sunset instead. This also helps avoid having more crowds, especially at the beach. This will give your clients better lighting. So if you anticipate this kind of weather, let your client know ahead of time so they can accommodate an earlier time change.

Something I don’t mention often, but now I feel might be an important tip for the proposer is, the ring box. If you plan on proposing in warm weather, it is kind of hard to hide the ring. Usually, when proposing in colder climate, you can hide the box in a jacket or sweater. In warmer weather, where you have less layers, it can get a little complicated if the box is too big. So if that might be the case for you, I would suggest looking into smaller boxes or some other kind of container that is easily disguised. This will help take the stress of your partner catching on to what is about to happen.
