Scripps Beach La Jolla Maternity Photos | Marina + Ernie

What a magical sunset we had during this San Diego maternity portrait beach session! There is something special about those winter San Diego sunsets! It’s a dense, thick, rich light that just hugs you all over! A bonus for having sunset winter photo sessions in San Diego is that you can still be at the beach and not completely freeze! This was the couple’s first maternity shoot and they were super excited! As the sun was still a little high, we started under the pier first. Scripps Beach La Jolla Maternity photos.

The tide was super low, so there was a lot of sand exposed! We could walk wherever we wanted and the parents to be were not scared of getting their feet wet! You get used to the water and since it was sunny they felt warm. Marina had mentioned to me that she had 2.5 outfits. So I spaced out the outfits per location.

I always recommend Amazon to find and shop for maternity dresses; especially when shooting at the beach so that you don’t have to worry if it gets wet or sandy. It is totally up to you if you want your preggo belly exposed or not. I always do encourage 2 dresses or outfits if you have one that is exposed. Always nice to have options.

When should you get your maternity photos taken? I say starting with month six on, depending on your comfort level. Usually women start to really show around 6 months, of course that can vary, and so anytime you feel like you are ready I would suggest booking. Sometimes women wait a little and then they realize they are growing faster than they expected. Also, you want to find dresses that are stretchy to accommodate for the growth. Majority get their photos taken around 7.5-8.5 months. Feel free to reach out to ask when you think is the best time for you.
