San Marcos Courthouse Wedding Photos | Joanna + Greg

As a San Marcos courthouse wedding photographer, I love when client’s come with a vision for their civil wedding. San Diego civil weddings are getting more and more popular and I am here for it! There are a couple locations where you can get your marriage license and ceremony! San Diego, Chula Vista, Santee and San Marcos. Each location has it’s own charm. The San Diego one is very popular, so keep in mind that these other locations are just as beautiful. You are not limited to just the actual county office. There are locations that are nearby that offer nature’s beauty as well as city feels. In these San Marcos Courthouse Wedding Photos | Joanna + Greg wanted a more city feel. With buildings and architecture, they wanted a “city hall” feel. I was excited to execute on this vision!

The majority of these photos were taken at a location just 5 min away from the San Marcos courthouse office. I usually utilize more of the greenery area of this location, but after meeting with the bride and hearing her vision, we decided to focus more on the architecture aspects of this venue. She had sent me sample photos of what she wanted and that helped me understand clearly what her vision is. As a photographer, it’s totally ok to encourage and be open to having your clients send you their mood board or vision. It’s our job as photographers to do our best to execute their vision and more so to enhance it!

What time should you book your ceremony at? I always suggest the first appointment of the day or a ceremony time 2-2.5 hours before sunset time. Their ceremony was a 10:30am. I suggested that we start with the couple portraits before their ceremony to get more optimal lighting. We started at 9am and am thankful we did! We got amazing and perfect light! always know you can be flexible in your timeline.
