San Diego Family Photos | A + P
As a San Diego family photographer, it’s fun when families want to have their sessions at their home. Especially when it’s the fall season, when the homes are decorated with holiday cheer! It’s a fun way to remember the special season when you are all cuddled up with the fam! In these San Diego Family Photos | A + P invited me into their beautiful home to for their first family photos! Also, maternity photos too as they are expecting their second baby! So definitely a special moment to remember! I got there a little earlier to scout out the house and my brain was so stimulated with ideas of where to shoot. Their lovely home had some many corners and rooms that were photo ready, I had to decide which order to go in. That was based on the lighting.
Always pick rooms where there is a window! You want to maximize the natural light in the room. Bring your prime lens to make sure you can get wide on your aperture. Especially with the season, you can work the lights coming off the tree. I started with the front of the house to get the sun flares as the front of the house faces west. I wanted to wait for the light off the mountains to go down a little, so the light would be more even. If not, there would have been too much contrast. It’s always a great idea to arrive to a new location at least fifteen minutes early to give yourself that time to calmly scout the place.
If you want to save some time, let your clients know to move any boxes or anything that might clutter the room. Especially in rooms that are by the window. They can even send you a video or photos of the house. Then you can pick the rooms ahead of time and they can make sure they are clean and organized.
