Scripps Pier Beach Scripps Pier Beach Maternity Photos
Another beautiful sunset during this San Diego Maternity Photo session. At first it was overcast, but then the sun came through! These maternity photos: Scripps Pier Beach, La Jolla was super fun as I shot her mother’s wedding earlier this summer and so it was nice to continue being a part of their lives in this chapter.

If you are a mama to be wanting a cute shirt like this one, I believe she got it from Target. She then changed into a black lace dress. When doing maternity shoot I always encourage two outfits. I always prefer long maxi dresses, as they allow for beautiful movement during shoots. Solid colors, floral print or lace is always highly recommended. However, at the end of the day it is whatever makes you feel comfortable!

It was a very humid day that evening, fortunately her hair didn’t get big, but it sure did make the water super warm!! We were all ready to jump in after the shoot! We shot on a Sunday evening, so it was a little busy. Part of shooting at Scripps is you have to be prepared to wait in line to shoot under the pier. It’s good to know how you want to pose them ahead of time so you don’t take up too much time and so you can maximize the time you have.

I just loveeee all the different backdrops at Scripps Beach! You have the pier, the rocks, the rock walls! Everything!! Another important thing to take note when shooting at Scripps or before heading down there is to check the tide!! Sometimes when the tide is too high you can’t access some of the rocks so always be aware and shoot accordingly! You don’t want to risk getting your cameras too wet!

[…] have also been using this venue for family portraits! A lot of time I do beach family portraits at Scripps Beach or Windansea Beach, but here we get that beach backdrop plus cacti, stone walls and rose […]
