San Diego Engagement and Family Photos | Los Peñasquitos Ranch House | Erin + Phil
As a San Diego engagement photographer, I always like to ask my clients what kind of backdrop they are interested in. It could be a beach backdrop, city, nature, etc. The same goes as a San Diego family photographer. Of course I have a handful of regular spots I like to photograph at. The nature ones have an extra kick, because they can change throughout the season! I shoot a lot at Los Peñasquitos Ranch House. Usually it is a yellow meadow. In the winter and early spring time though, it is super lush and green! I was super excited to shoot this San Diego Engagement and Family Photos | Los Peñasquitos Ranch House | Erin + Phil. They loved all the nature!
I love when my clients stay in the same color palette but still wear outfits that match their personality! The ideas isn’t to be in identical outfits. You want to have cohesiveness, while still being true to your style! I always suggest to stick to 3 colors. Then you can choose outfits within those three colors or shades of those colors. Also, only one person should have a print of some sort. If it’s a session with multiple groups, then each nucleus can have a print and everyone else in solids.
Also, when you know what the color of your backdrop is, in this case green, you want to wear colors that work with it. For example, when shooting at the beach, with blue waters, I like to suggest something in the red color family. Really have a contrast to the blue waters. Here, the neutrals contrast with the bright green. You want to make sure you don’t blend in with the background. You want to standout!
