San Diego Courthouse Wedding Photos | A + J

As a San Diego courthouse wedding photographer, I love when couples want to keep the couple portraits going by adding a second location. Some couples choose the beach while others choose the nearby Balboa Park. It’s like a 13 hour flight to Europe in 7 minutes! The San Diego administrator building, which is where you get your San Diego Marriage license and the adjacent Waterfront Park, already offer a diverse offering for backdrops. When you add Balboa Park, to the mix, there is no denying people will be asking you where you got married! Your civil wedding steps up a notch when you take a little more time to get more couple portraits. Some couples do the combo of waterfront park photos and Balboa Park while either choose one or the other. It’s totally up to you and what feels right for you as a couple! In these San Diego Courthouse Wedding Photos | A + J, chose both locations!

Most couples choose the outdoor arbor for their ceremony. I do want to bring attention to the fact that you can book an indoor ceremony. If you prefer to go the safe route with an indoor ceremony (in case it’s a rainy time of the year, rare, but it happens) there is a chance you can switch to outdoor if there aren’t that many appointments booked during your time slot. They are very nice and flexible when they can be at the admin office. They want your special day to be as perfect as can be!

Yes, Balboa Park can get busy. Especially in the summer time. Fortunately, courthouse weddings (at the San Diego location) are only offered during the week. This helps with the crowds at Balboa. The best time to photograph your couple portraits there, to avoid crowds, is in the morning, You can also do your wedding couple portraits first, then head to your ceremony. This allows you to start even earlier. This helps in the summertime when it’s daylight super early!
