Newport Beach Family Photos | DK

As a San Diego family photographer, I sometimes get clients in Orange County. Living in Southern California, we are fortunate enough to photograph families at all of its beautiful beaches! In these Newport Beach Family Photos | DK, we shot them at the Newport Beach Pier! It’s always nice to have some kind of coverage when shooting at the beach. Helps give even light when it is still bright out! The family was visiting from out of town, so they definitely wanted beach shots!

With summer approaching, many families will be doing road trips. What better time to get your family photos taken than on vacation! They might be from the desert wanting ocean or from the mountains wanting desert. Here is your chance to provide photos with them in a setting that is not their normal day to day! I, for example, get most of my out of town clients from Arizona. Many frequent San Diego a lot and so they always are on the lookout to do family, maternity or any other kind of photos.

When working with young kids, you have to be on the move! They are always running around, which makes for great candid shots, but you have to be fast in getting the shot. During my photo sessions, even for family ones, I am alway carrying two cameras. One body has the wide lens, and the other a tight lens. This helps me make sure I get the shot no matter how close or far away they are. Yes, it does mean more weight, but I love knowing I am ready at any moment!

When shooting families, make sure to do a combination of groupings. This includes, but is not limited to, family all together, parents, kids, kids with each parent individually, kids individually, individual kid with individual parent. This is a great memory they will have for the rest of their lives and something they will always look back on and probably post for a throwback on their social media 🙂
