Los Peñasquitos Ranch House Family Photos | M + D

As a San Diego family photographer, it is known that October kicks off fall family portrait season. Fortunately, fall season lasts longer in San Diego than other cities. You can still catch some fall foliage in late November. I learned the hard way that fall foliage happens quick in cities like Denver. Nonetheless, not all San Diego fall family portrait sessions require fall foliage. Some families like the beach or the meadow feel for their portraits. In this Los Peñasquitos Ranch House Family Photos | M + D opted for the meadow location.

As you can see from the previous photos, there was a special announcement to be made here at Los Peñasquitos Ranch House. Baby #3 is on the way! In a perfect world, we wanted both kids to smile and hold up the photo with so. much excitement. When shooting young kids, you can’t guarantee their moods and we only had one happy child with the announcement. Nevertheless, you continue on and keep the mood upbeat and happy.

This was a morning session and fortunately we had some light light overcast clouds. I don’t mind when the clouds are light, like misty because it allows you to shoot anywhere you like.. The sun gets diffused though the clouds, and adds a nice glow. Since you never know how long that will last, I began the session in the meadow. I knew I had the trees available to me to move over to when the sun finally came out.

I am sure you always remind your clients to bring treats or toys for their kids to bribe them during the session. That’s great! Just advise them to pick treats that won’t stain their mouth or tongue. Like if the treat is a lollipop, blue would not be a great color to use. So make sure treats can be easily wiped or cleaned from the little ones.
