As a La Jolla family photographer, summer time brings in a lot of out of town clients. San Diego is a great destination vacation city and what better way to capture the trip than with a photoshoot! You don’t want the memory of your trip to be a bunch of selfies! You want to cherish these photos for a lifetime! So when planning a trip, consider a photoshoot! Make sure to pack some cute outfits to wear! In these La Jolla Scripps Beach Family Photos | J + R were vacationing with their two kids. The last time they had done family photos was when they were toddlers! So a family photoshoot was way overdue!
Sometimes your out of town clients will know exactly where they want their photos taken. Other times they will be totally open to your suggestions. I always like to ask what they envision for their session and try to find something that is in the range, while still providing other examples. Remember, when they are visiting, you are on your home turf. You know all the good photo spots. It is up to you to inform them of what they don’t know. You are a wealth of location knowledge. Feel free to send them links to your past work at different locations. Make sure to inform them, if this applies to the sessions, if anything is subject to weather or tides.
The length of your session is totally up to you. If you want to have an outfit change, then I would consider a session longer than an hour. If your location has multiple backdrops, you want to make sure you have adequate time to get to each one. It’s important not to feel rushed. It may take you a second to get into the photo groove. Give yourself time to adjust to the camera. Your photographer of course will help guide you throughout the session, so you are not alone!
