La Jolla Scripps Beach Engagement Photos | Mariana + Thomas
As a San Diego engagement photographer, I love seeing the excitement from the couples! For some, this is the very first time they are getting a professional photos taken. It can be very exciting as well as a little nerve wrecking. Take the time to advise your clients on locations and wardrobe ideas. In these La Jolla Scripps Beach Engagement Photos | Mariana + Thomas made a beautiful memory of their first time visiting this beach!

Whenever possible, book your beach sessions when low tide is at sunset. I use an online tide calendar to confirm. When you prepare for your session and make it purposeful, you will love the results! Now it’s not always possible to sync up the date with sunset and low tide, but whenever possible do try to. Even if it’s within a couple hours, it helps.

There are many beaches to choose from in San Diego. I do tend to stay within 5 beaches. It’s good to be open to any location your client prefers. If they don’t have a preference though, it’s good to use one of your regular spots. You are the expert at that location and you can focus on being creative with your client. Even in locations that you photograph regularly at, I promise you that you can always find a new location or angle.

You can see that the light changed a lot during the session. The clouds were coming in and we were loosing the sunshine. I learned early on that you must always seize the moment. You might not be in the exact location you want, but if you have the chance to play with the sun flares that are not going to last very long, take it! Light always takes priority over location!
