As a San Diego engagement photographer, nothing makes me more happy than when the sun is cooperating. Lately the weather in San Diego has been mixed with cloud coverage rolling in during sunset. In these La Jolla Scripps Beach Engagement Photos | L + G, it looked like we were going to get hazy clouds the entire session, but there was a break in the clouds that gave us the most romantic sunset sunlight that we photographers drool over! It’s hard not to choose a beach backdrop when in San Diego. The beaches in La Jolla are just insanely beautiful for your La Jolla engagement photo session! The important thing is to try and schedule your session when low tide is near sunset time.

Scheduling your San Diego engagement session when low tide is at sunset ensures that you will get access to the tide pools and exposure or nearby rocks or reefs. The underwater world is visible and makes for incredible backdrops! Not all beaches have these textures, beaches like Mission Beach are long stretches of sand. Always ask your photographer for suggestions. They should be very familiar with locations. Always let them know what your vision is, what kind of backdrop you are hoping for. Weather and seasons affect what can be available to you.

Planning outfits can be a bit stressful, make sure to give yourself sometime. Don’t wait till the last minute, it will add unnecessary stress. Take the time to consider colors and patterns. If you want to take this opportunity to get a new outfit, give yourself enough time to order and get it delivered on time. I have had a few clients stress because the order didn’t arrive on time. Not only that, you want to make sure you have enough time to return and get a different size if you need to. Put your outfit next to your partner’s to make sure it’s cohesive too!
