La Jolla Forest Family Photos | S + D
As a La Jolla family photographer, I am used to families requesting the beach for their backdrop. At any time of the year the beach is beautiful! But if you are looking for something more green, and it’s winter time, then you are in luck! When San Diego does end up getting rain, everything is eye popping green! There is this location near UCSD that I used to shoot at a lot but then I stopped getting requests for a “forest” feel in La Jolla. In these La Jolla Forest Family Photos | S + D, S was looking for nature backdrops and I remembered this spot. With all the rain we had gotten, I had forgotten that it gets super green! I was very excited when I drove up to see. I would say this happens between end of December and end of Feb. So if you are looking for greenery forest feel in La Jolla, book now!

What I love about this place is that you still get peek a boo sights of the ocean! If you are a nature lover but also a beach lover, this is a great combo! I can’t tell you how beautiful this place is in the winter! It feels unreal and magical! We got lucky with hazy weather and patches of sunlight. We shot this in the early morning. I couldn’t have asked for better lighting. When it was overcast we stayed on the outskirts and when the sun was bursting through we hid under the trees. My brain was so stimulated with all this beauty around us!

With all this wet weather I do have some tips to share. For sitting shots, definitely have your clients bring a blanket. Preferably a neutral color one. The ground can be wet, especially for morning shoots. You want to make sure they don’t get their clothes dirty and muddy. Speaking of mud, if the ground is wet, that means the littles ones shoes are going to get wet. If there is dirt, then those little feet are going to be muddy. You want your clients to bring a small towel to wipe off their kids shoes. If they pick them up with dirty shoes then they will end up getting their clothes muddy!
