La Jolla Engagement Proposal Photos | E + T
As a La Jolla engagement photographer, one of the exciting aspects is the initial proposal photo session! Don’t feel obliged like you have to get the proposal photographed. Some do, as they want the whole experience captured, but if you rather wait and do engagement photos after you pop the question that is totally cool too! Sometimes clients do both as the partner prefers a different outfit or location. Many people use their engagement photos as content for the wedding website and save the dates. In these La Jolla Engagement Proposal Photos | E + T, had some surprises. The original spot where we were going to do the proposal was taken and they had a celebrity encounter midway during their session!

This was the first time I had a proposal where I had to switch the location last minute. I have had a proposal where the one being proposed to started walking away from the spot we had planned. I quickly let my client know not to worry as I will follow them wherever they end up going. Everything worked out. In this case, we had to move the location cause there was another proposal being set up. This happens a lot at Sunset Cliffs, which is why I don’t love it for proposals. That is why I suggest this location because it is pretty private. Nevertheless, I always arrive at least 15 minutes before shoot time. This is to take into account any changes like client arriving early or in this case, location swap.

I had a backup location just 2 minutes away, so I quickly let my client know. Everything went smoothly and I quickly adapted to the new location spot. It actually turned out fortuitous, because they had a celebrity run in and took a photo with him. Wouldn’t have happened had we not had to change location. As a photographer, it’s crucial to have back up locations that are nearby. You never know when the tide, weather or another shoot might get in the way.
