As a La Jolla engagement photographer, proposals are a very exciting part of the task! So yo can either book an engagement session, where you are already engaged. Or you can start from the beginning and book a proposal engagement session where you capture the big question being asked! There is no right or wrong way. You don’t have to have the proposal documented, but some like to. You can still do another engagement session after your proposal in case you would have wanted a different location or outfit for the occasion. The proposal session is nice to have as a keepsake! As a San Diego proposal photographer, I get a mix of locals and out of town clients. San Diego is great destination for a proposal! If you are an out of towner, no need to worry! I set up a FaceTime call with you beforehand at the location and review the protocol with you. This helps ease your nerves, especially when you are in a new location. The less you have to worry about, the better! If you are local, then I schedule an in person meet at the location to review details. If anything, we at least chat on the phone to go over the procedure.
Proposals can be a nerve wracking moment, but filled with so much love and joy! By taking some steps ahead of time you can definitely ease the nerves! Having a plan helps! I always like to suggest you let your partner know that you made a dinner reservation. This helps make sure your partner is dressed for the occasion. You don’t want to catch them by too much of a surprise that they are in sweat pants! You can then mention that the restaurant suggested you visit, insert whatever location you chose, and that is why you are heading there in advance. For more tips, reach out!
