As a La Jolla maternity photographer, I love capturing the excitement of parents to be or parents expanding their families! Pregnancy is such a special time for families, especially for the mom! Some may not have the best experience and may not want to commemorate the experience. Others wish to remember this and choose to have a pregnancy photo session. There are many types of backdrops that you can choose from in San Diego. You can do a meadow field type of background, in home, city, park, such as Balboa Park, or the beach. There are some beaches in San Diego that may be a little challenging to walk around when super pregnant. Which leads to a common question I get when clients are looking to book a pregnancy shoot. When should the maternity session be booked? I think starting at 7 months, up to weeks before your due date can work. Every woman develops differently and feels differently so go with what feels like the right time. Better to be earlier than too late where you have difficulty walking. You also want to make sure you are well balanced when walking.
What to wear? I love body fitting dresses! It’s a great way to show the bump! Or the long dresses can be flared, but I like when there is a slit. Show some leg or some even have a slit long enough to showcase the bump. Whatever your comfort level is for revealing the baby bump. I do suggest not having batwing sleeves cause when you profile pose, it will cover the bump. So definitely tight sleeve if you are using a long sleeve.
