La Jolla Cove Family Photos | RJ
As a La Jolla family photographer, I love the holiday season! Many family come together and what better time than to take family portraits together! Many families live in different cities and states, so it’s hard to coordinate a get together. That’s what the holidays are for, to bring everyone together! Another thing I love seeing is family portraits with grown children! Many time people stop doing family photos once their kids hit middle or high school. Why stop there? Family photos should be enjoyed every year! When booking around the holiday season, I would definitely reach out to your photographer ahead of time to confirm a date. In these La Jolla Cove Family Photos | RJ was joined by her husband and two kids and daughter in law. We had the king tides with us at the lovely Cuvier Park.

When photographing at the beach, the ideal times are early morning and magic hour. Magic hour light is one hour before sunset. Mornings are great because there are less crowds, for the most part. The only tricky thing with sunrise, on the west coast, is the light and shadow unevenness. If you are photographing at a place with different elevations, so on cliffs or in an area where there are some tall buildings, you get shadows. Your backdrops are exposed to the sun. So try to have your subject and background in the same type of light. They can both be in the sun or both be in the shade. With today’s editing tools though, you can definitely adjust and correct it better than before.

As far as outfits go, you can choose three colors and work within the different shades of those colors. Or, as seen here, you can choose variations of the same color top and bottom. Whichever works best for your family!
