La Jolla Cove Family Photos | L + J
As a La Jolla family photographer, one of my favorite places to photograph at is La Jolla Cove. Even on a cloudy day, it’s still beautiful. You get such a wonderful mix of cliffs, turquoise waters, palm trees, white sand. It’s no wonder many people like to get married at the Wedding Bowl. Its beauty is even more present when you can have your photo session there when low tide is at sunset! Then you get all these tide pools and reefs exposed. There are no seals on this side, so no need to worry about disturbing the wildlife. In these La Jolla Cove Family Photos | L + J, they got to soak in the warmth of a fall sunset! Their little one was a star in front of the camera!

Yes, it can get very crowded at La Jolla Cove. Especially on a weekend in the summertime. Fortunately, for fall family portraits, the weekends aren’t as crowded. It’s always better to schedule your San Diego family photos on a weekday. Rest assured though that a fall weekend (unless it’s a holiday) is not as bad. Still worth the backdrops as mostly people stay on the sidewalks. This was the Sunday after Thanksgiving and though there were some families gathered, nothing that couldn’t be worked around.

When your kids are young, you might be leaning to do your family portraits in the morning. If possible and if you think your little one is up for it, I would try to push for a sunset session. Every kid is different, so this is totally a case by case basis, but if they can muster the energy for a sunset session it’s definitely worth it! It can be challenging with the time change, daylight savings can wreak havoc on sleep schedules. If morning is best, try to schedule for the earliest possible!
