La Jolla Cove Family Photos | EB

As a La Jolla family photographer, there are so many locations to choose from for family phots. La Jolla Cove is certainly one that never disappoints! It offers such diverse backdrops from cacti to ocean, from stones to flowers! It’s especially fun to show out of towners the beauty of this city! For these La Jolla Cove family photos | EB was visiting San Diego with her kids and wanted to have a photo portrait session to remember it by.

The weather kept changing during our session as there was heavy cloud coverage. When that happens, alway make sure to be checking your photos on your LCD screen to make sure you have the proper settings. Even when the weather isn’t changing you still want to double check every so often when things change.

The tide was somewhat low and so the kids were able to enjoy walking on the sand and playing in the water. When shooting kids at the beach, always make sure you wait till the end of the session before you let them play in the water. You don’t want their outfits to get all wet and spotty.

It’s always fun to let kids roam free during their photo sessions. That’s when you get the best candids! It can get a little hectic with 3 kids, but definitely lots of fun! Always great to start off with the posed shots first as a warm up and then you can let everyone be free and really be present in their environment.

I get asked sometimes on what outfits work best for portraits. I always suggest solids vs prints and bold colors. Most importantly though, is to wear whatever makes you feel comfortable and confident. What you feel will show in the photos. If you plan on wearing new shoes, I would definitely break them in first or bring a pair of sandals.
