As a San Diego family photographer, I love learning about new locations to photograph at! It can be easy to fall into a routine of the same locations, and though they may be great, it’s nice to spruce it up a bit, even if you have to drive a little further to get there! The drive was totally worth it for Felicita Park family photos | Jen + Luis! This place is literally down the street from their home! It’s literally their kids’ backyard!
We were lucky enough to catch the end of fall ands till have some trees with leaves on them and one very special tree with bright orange leaves on it! The three wasn’t that big, so I used my long lens to get super tight shots. This is a little trick for when the backdrop isn’t that wide but you want to use it, go with a long lens like the 70-200mm. My 35mm would expose the reality of how small the tree is.
Usually my family portrait shoots go for about an hour to an hour and a half. My client chose the 2 hour session as she was including her parents and sister in the shoot, as well as a cake smash for her daughter. With COVID and not being able to have a traditional party, she opted for having a photoshoot instead. Not a bad idea 😉
The park is large and I came early to scout the location to try to find the best spots but also near each other. Even though it was fall, it was still hot and I didn’t want my clients, especially a big group like this to be walking around so much and getting warm and sweaty. So I decided on 4 main spots, all within walking distance and very diverse among themselves.
