Felicita Park Family Maternity Photos | Jeanna + Rey
As a San Diego maternity photographer, I always want to suggest locations that are easily accessible. Whether it’s a beach or park, I don’t want the client to have to do any excessive walking. In these Felicita Park Family Photos | Jeanna + Rey, we had lots of beautiful trees and boulders surrounding us. We were just a few steps away from an entirely new environment. As this was both a family and maternity photoshoot, it was good to have distractions for the big brother to be.

As I always mention, photoshoots involving babies or young toddlers, are to be scheduled in the morning. When shooting at Felicita Park, please note that there are times in the year where the gate to the park does not open before your shoot. Do let your clients know to park along the street so they don’t get confused. You can park right outside the gate. The only downfall to this is that you can’t drive through the entire park.

As you can see from the pictures, you can find plenty of photo opportunities walking distance from the gate. If it is your first time shooting here, I would suggest to scout the entire park. This way, you know what is available to you and you can determine what fits the needs of your clients best.

I usually shoot family portraits with my 35mm and 85mm prime lens. Knowing I would be surrounded by so much nature, I brought my CANON 24-70mm lens to include more of the background. I go back and forth with this lens. Sometimes I am all in with it and can’t put it down and other times I get slightly disappointed. If I know I am shooting in low light though, I know for sure to use my prime lens. When I am in a situation where I need versatility or I am unsure of the environment, then I bring the 24-70mm for comfort.
