As a San Diego lifestyle photographer, I love doing personal branding shoots. What is a personal branding shoot? It’s when you, the person, are the brand. Normally this means you provide a service of some kind. Be it a coach, real estate agent, teacher, accountant, etc. You are the brand, you are the service. Why do a personal branding shoot? People like to know who they are working with. They want to get to know you. Also, as a service provider, you are sharing content and information to your clients and future clients. Be it your website, social media, newsletter, etc. you have info to spread. A personal branding lifestyle shoots helps you add visuals to your copy. How do you prepare for your personal branding shoot? I have a guide that you can check out to assist you. The main points are: Location, Topics, Wardrobe, Props and layout. For location, this means where is the shoot going to take place. You can do it in your home, you can do it outside or if you are envisioning a particular look and feel of a place, you can search for one online. There are many websites that offer location rentals by the hour. There is Giggster and Peerspace. This location is a beautiful beach cottage in Encinitas, it even has its own name Cottage and Sea. I have shot at this location a couple times already for other personal branding shoots. It has so much to offer. The host, Nikki, is so sweet!
For layout, I am referring to your website or socials. What’s your marketing plan? How are you going to roll this out in your newsletter. Where will these images be placed on your website. You will notice that the majority of these photos are vertical or portrait position. During our pre shoot creative calls, I asked Lexy if she wanted an even mix of vertical or horizontal photos or if she needed more of the other. This is something to think about and consider BEFORE the shoot so you have the images that you need. A photoshoot is going to help you if it doesn’t serve a purpose and product content that you can utilize.
