Coronado Beach Family Photos | T + J

As a Coronado Beach family photographer, I appreciate the consistency this location has to offer. I never have to worry about the tide. I can always depend on having the dunes, the Hotel Del as a backdrop and the shoreline for people to dip their toes in. There are many spots to photograph at. This is helpful when you have an extended family session. This way each nucleus can have their own backdrop. In these Coronado Beach Family Photos | T + J brought their two kids and their beautiful families. It was a great day to get all three generations together for family portraits!

When photographing extended family, it’s always a good idea to ask for a family combination list. Just like you would for a wedding. Things can and normally get hectic with so many people. Especially if there are kids involved. Having a list helps make sure you didn’t miss anything. A lot of times, in these big family shoots, some are from out of town. You wouldn’t want to miss out on a photo combination. Still let them know that they can impromptu different combinations. In addition, this doesn’t mean you just stick to the list. I like to knock out the list first and then get into the candids.

Staggering family arrivals during a family shoot can be a good idea. Sometimes, if there are lots of children around, they might get excited to see the other kids. If you have one family present, along with the grand parents, you know do those first. Then you can have the other family arrive 15-20 min later. Then you can do the entire group shots. Lastly the other family comes in. Grand finale are all the candid shots as the list is now complete.
