Wild Wawa shoots prove how important props are to a photo session. Especially when working with kids. Props help distract the toddlers. They interact with the props and give you all the candid opportunities. Many times kids think they are supposed to just stand straight, stare at the camera and say cheese. Although we love those smily faces, we want photoshoots to feel real. We want you to imagine your kids doing fun actives in the clothes you are going to buy for them. Those are the images we want to create.
Having these objects, loosens the kids and they feel like it’s playtime. Now, it’s not always rainbows and unicorns. Of course you are going to have kids that didn’t get a good nap in or are simply not feeling it. Don’t panic! It’s totally normal! Just give them a minute to get used to their surrounds. Always have their parent present. This helps put them at ease. You can always move on to the next child and come back to their previous when they are ready. If all else fails, just shoot cropped in. The focus is the clothes anyway!
