Balboa Park Elopement Photos | E + C
As a San Diego civil wedding photographer, I don’t always photograph the actual courthouse wedding ceremony at the county office. Couples don’t have to get their couple portraits, or even ceremony, photographed at the actual location where they are getting married. Not all the San Diego marriage license county offices have backdrops that are photo worthy. In these Balboa Park Elopement Photos | E + C, they were scheduled to have their civil ceremony at the San Marcos location. That outdoor ceremony site is small and there isn’t much around as far as nature goes. The couple wanted their portraits taken at Balboa Park. I suggested we do a mock ceremony also at Balboa Park, to give them a more ethereal backdrop for their ceremony. They were thrilled with the idea!

There is nothing better than photographing at Balboa Park on a weekday morning. There are less crowds! On this particular morning, we were crossing our fingers that the storm wouldn’t stop us. We were extremely lucky and only had a light drizzle for a minute. We didn’t even have to stop photographing. Usually when I photograph couple portraits at Balboa Park, it’s after the ceremony at the San Diego county office. Here, we dedicated the entire two hour session at Balboa Park. This let us cover more ground and explore more of the park.

There is a lot of walking at Balboa Park, so make sure to let your couples know to bring comfy shoes. They can either wear them the entire time or switch into them. You don’t want their feet to hurt! It will show in the photos and they will be over the photo session! Ask them if they have broken in their shoes or not ahead of time. More likely than not, they haven’t.
