WEDDING photos: Cuvier Park, La Jolla

There is nothing better than a bride with a beautiful smile! That is exactly what I got to photograph this past weekend taking wedding photos: Cuvier Park, La Jolla. The weather kept changing from sunny to cloudy, but she never stopped lighting up the beach!

When shooting wedding photos at Cuvier Park, you will notice that the grassy knoll, or the wedding bowl, is at a slant. So your photos might look crooked even though you are straightening them along the horizon. So I always give a mix. If they are up close I make the couples straight and if shot from a wide angle I align it with the horizon.

Photographing a wedding at Cuvier Park will always get you spectators in the background, because most likely it’s the weekend, and people will be walking around La Jolla Cove. So just have your aperture wide enough so that the background spectators are blurred out.

The bride has a beautiful wedding dress! I am all about trains because it makes for dramatic wedding photos. In addition, she had a veil too! So basically she looked like a princess, and with that smile she stole everyone’s hearts! 🙂

The ceremony was short and sweet and then we started with some fun wedding party portraits and family portraits as well. The light kept changing to I had to keep adjusting my settings.

The reception was taking place at Eddie V’s which is a couple minutes away from Cuvier Park. The restaurant has an open patio area where you have beautiful views of La Jolla Cove. You are so close you can hear the sea lions! It was time for the guests to head over to reception. Then the bride and groom and I began our formal wedding couples portraits! ENJOY 🙂
