San Diego Family Dog Photos | Waterfront Park

As a San Diego family photographer, I always love when people include their furry pets! They are just as much a part of the family as the humans are! In this San Diego Family Dog Photos | Waterfront Park, the dog, Cleo, was the center of the family session. We went to waterfront park, her favorite park for the session. This was a special session, as Cleo’s time was coming short. They wanted to make sure they had a formal portrait session with her to remember her always. Having a dog myself, I got a little emotional throughout the session.

We took our time and didn’t push Cleo too much throughout the session. We walked to a few key backdrop locations and then made our way to her favorite part of the park. Can you guess it? The water fountains!! They said she loves to put her face in the water. It was just the cutest thing ever. I wanted to make sure that all the memories of her at the park were captured. So I wanted them to tell me what her likes were around the park.

Cleo really loved the camera because she lasted longer than we thought for the session. We wanted to have a slow pace and make sure she wasn’t overwhelmed or too tired. Although the circumstances are sad, I am glad they are going to have these photos of her forever. I am a super nostalgic person, naturally, so I know how important these photos are going to be. It was imperative the session go perfectly.

Cleo is so loved and she will be missed! When doing these sentimental sessions, it’s important to be sensitive towards peoples feelings. Don’t just rush into the session, give some time to chat a little. Learn why this session is going to be so important for your clients. This will help you make sure you capture their wishes. Rapport is very important before starting any photography session. You want to establish trust and a personal connection with your client or clients.
