San Diego Courthouse Wedding Photos | R + JD

As a San Diego courthouse wedding photographer, it’s always fun when clients want to add a second location to their wedding couple photos! There are places nearby or just a short drive away from the San Diego county administrator office. It depends on what kind of backdrop you are interested in. In these San Diego Courthouse Wedding Photos | R + JD wanted to feel transported to another country and opted for Balboa Park. It’s just a short, five minute, drive from the county office. It feels like you took a thirteen hour flight to Europe though! With the beauty of its gardens and architecture, it’s a sure way to have some beautiful wedding couple portraits after getting your San Diego marriage license and ceremony!

When booking an additional location, it’s always best to add time to your session. My courthouse weddings are usually two hours when done all at the county office. When couples want to add another location they add at least another hour to their session for a total of three. You want enough time to go through each location calmly and not be rushing. You want to enjoy this time and not be running around. Speaking of running around, if you choose a location like Balboa Park, you definitely want to wear comfy shoes or bring a change of shoes for the walking parts. There is a lot of ground to cover there!

When booking your ceremony time near sunset or when you are adding a third location and want to make sure you are good on time, I would suggest doing your family photos ahead of time. That means, prior to ceremony. When you book your San Diego marriage license appointment (it’s the one hour license + ceremony) you never know exactly what time the officiant will come for you to do your ceremony. So you if you are cutting it close with time, doing the family photos before ceremony let’s you start with your couple photos right away after the ceremony.
