San Diego Courthouse Wedding | J + M
As a San Diego courthouse wedding photographer, I love when people want to add a second location. I am all about multiple and various backdrops. Some people opt for the beach and others for the park. Balboa Park, which is a 5 min drive from the San Diego county administrator building, is a top choice! It literally feels like you took the thirteen hour fight to Europe! The architecture, the gardens, everything is beautiful! Now there is definitely no need to add a second location. There is plenty to photograph at the county building, but in case you wanted to or wanted to add time with a second location, it’s always an option. In these San Diego Courthouse Wedding | J + M only did ceremony and family photos at the building and then headed straight over to Balboa Park.

Lately, for San Diego civil weddings, you are able to choose an alternate outdoor location if there is an event going on. Normally you would just head to the east side of the building, but now you can choose. This is great! I always suggest my favorite outdoor spot, which is on the grassy mound with the backdrop of the city buildings. It really gives that San Diego City hall vibe. Usually people steer way when there is a ceremony going on, so you don’t have to worry about people getting in the shot or watching. It is on the grass so keep that in mind when choosing footwear.

There is some walking to do at Balboa Park. We do pause and take photos between locations so it’s not like you are on the go the entire time. If your shoes can get uncomfortable when walked in for too long, then I would suggest bringing a spare pair of comfy shoes to switch into for the longer stretches. Better to be comfortable and not get blisters during your session!
