Old Poway Park Family Photos | M + J
As a San Diego family photographer, the fall season brings out many families to get their photos captured for their holiday cards! It’s a fun time to get dressed up and pick a fun spot to visit. Your backdrop can be repetitive from previous years or you can try a new spot every year. There are so many different backdrops to choose from in San Diego, you can almost get any topography you want. Obviously, there is the beach, you have plenty of parks to choose from. Depends on the terrain you want. You can also have a bayside backdrop or city backdrop. The choice is yours. You can sometimes, depending on the weather get some fall foliage in your backdrop. In these Old Poway Park Family Photos | M + J, they wanted to have a mix of train tracks and foliage!

Old Poway Park can get very popular. Especially during the fall season. We started this session early, not super early but at 8am. 7:30am would have been even more ideal as the light is still low, but with the tree coverage I was ok with 8am. When we finished the session there were a lot more families getting their photo taken so I was glad for the early start. Sunset sessions are great too, but I wouldn’t book it to finish right at sunset. I would start a little earlier to give yourself some more light since the trees are so tall and cast a lot of shade.

Choosing your outfits for your family portrait session can feel daunting. Get ahead of it, and don’t wait till the last minute. It will definitely relieve you of the stress! I always suggest three colors and working within those shades of colors. For every family, one person can have a print. Too many people in prints can make it look busy and distracting. By prepping ahead of time, you give yourself some buffer time in case you have to look for something else or change sizes. Especially with growing babies, they may not fit in them anymore. Lay the outfits out and then feel free to send to your photographer for feedback.
