Montevalle Park Family Photos | F + M
As a San Diego family portrait photographer, I love scouting or learning of new locations for photoshoots. San Diego offers more than just the beach! It has parks, cities, meadows, trees, even cactus! Always let your photographer know what your vision is for your photos. You never know, they may have exactly what you are looking for. You can also rent places for photoshoots. Peerspace is a great resource! These Montevalle Park Family Photos | F + M showed me a beautiful park in South Bay. It makes it easier when you can photograph close to your clients location. Especially when they have to get kids ready.

When choosing a time for your family session, I am always going to promote whatever is going to make your kids happy. Now, once your kids are 7 and above, you have a little more flexibility with time. Then, I will push for a sunset session. Schedules don’t always line up and sometimes your clients only have the mornings available. When that is the case, early morning is best. Ideally within the first hour or two of sunrise. When you are photographing at a location with lots of tall trees, then you can get away with shooting a little later. The trees will help diffuse the direct sunlight.

Don’t let choosing an outfit deter you from getting your family portraits done. I know it can feel overwhelming, but it’s definitely worth it. Also, you can totally choose existing outfits. No need to go out and buy something new. Of course this is the perfect excuse to do that, but not necessary. Start with looks that you and your kids enjoy and then see which ones go together. You can style by color. I always suggest choosing three colors and then working within shades of those colors. One print per family.
