Los Peñasquitos Ranch House Family Photos | S + J
As a San Diego family photographer, the fall season can get busy with families. Everyone is preparing for their holiday card send out! There are a few areas that offer that “fall” vibe, but it doesn’t last very long. The weather certainly impacts how much fall we get or not. While most people still head to the beach for their family portraits, some do want more of the foliage nature aspect. Surprisingly, you can find that in San Diego. In these Los Peñasquitos Ranch House Family Photos | S + J enjoyed some trees with their young boys. Depending on the area that you were in, you found some that were more in the fall festive spirit!

This session was photographed in the morning. In photography world, it was considered a late morning. I believe it was nine in the morning. The best time to photograph in the morning is within an hour of sunrise. Just like you have magic hour light, which is an hour before sunset; you have the same in reverse. Obviously it’s very challenging to get families ready to go so early in the morning, so you settle with what can be achieved. If you are in an area with lots of coverage it shouldn’t be a problem. If you are in an open area, then always start with that area first. The day is only going to get brighter.

Family portrait season also means that locations can get busy! It’s always safer to try and schedule your sessions during the week. There are usually less people out. Weekends can get very hectic and if you are photographing at a popular spot like Scripps beach, the pier will definitely have a wait! Avoid the crowds and try to get a weekday scheduled!
