La Jolla Scripps Beach Maternity Photos | A + C
As a La Jolla maternity photographer, I love how we can pretty much do a beach shoot any time of the year! There is something special about a maternity shoot near the water! Probably because both being pregnant and water mean life giving! Of course you want to choose the right beach. Meaning, one that you can safely access while pregnant. You don’t want to traverse a rocky beach with stones for sand! You also want to make sure you have a low tide at sunset. The last thing you want is to be caught in a high tide while pregnant. It won’t be fun to wade the water with your bump! In these La Jolla Scripps Beach Maternity Photos | A + C had an epic sunset to celebrate their first child!

One of the most fun but also challenging aspects when preparing for your maternity session is what to wear!? I like the idea of a fun, low key, casual outfit and then a more form fitting, feminine look. Baggy is NOT better when pregnant. Do not fear a body con dress, it extenuates the bump in the most perfect way! It hugs you in the right places and keeps the focus on the bump. I love a long sleeve, body fitting dress. I did that for my maternity session. One of the dresses I used was this red one I got on Amazon. I actually wear it not pregnant as well. Since I got it off Amazon, I felt fine getting it wet. I also did my maternity shoot at the beach.

Another look I am into to is the high neck. Of course this works in colder times of the year. I also liked that the slit was on the side, because it helps with posing. When given the option, go for a slide slit instead of a back slit. That way when you bend your leg it doesn’t pull on the dress so much. I got mine from Bumpsuit. These are just suggestions and of course go with whatever feels most comfortable to you. At the end of the day that is what matters most and what will come through in the photos!
