As a La Jolla family photographer, I love getting mommy and me sessions. They are just the cutest sessions! So much love between a mom and her daughter and her daughter wanting to be like her. Sometimes family sessions can get hectic; so having an intimate one, one on one with just one parent and child is a nice change. In these La Jolla Scripps Beach Family Photos | YV and her daughter had a beautiful bonding time at the beach. The pier and cliffs provide epic backdrops! Plenty of fun and distraction for the little one to explore!
Depending on the age of your little one, you might want to work around their nap schedule. However, if they can pull through and have the session during sunset time, you won’t regret it! As long as we let them be and explore, they will have fun and forget they want to take a nap. Usually we just do one hour sessions for these as they can tire quickly. That is plenty of time though to snap some beautiful moments! Treats and toys always help too! Just make sure the treats don’t stain with color!
We had a mix of sunshine and clouds that day. You can always add a little light leaks to your editing to add some more light when needed. When photographing with youngsters, I love coming to Scripps Beach because it is super kid friendly. Long stretches of sand and they can’t run to a parking lot or into cars! There are some rocks so definitely need to make sure they maneuver ok around that. Always try to schedule, whenever possible, with low tide at sunset. This way you get a lot of the reefs and the rocks exposed.
