La Jolla Scripps Beach Family Photos | S + J
As a San Diego family photographer, the summer time brings lots of tourists to La Jolla. With it’s beautiful coastlines and turquoise waters, it’s no wonder it’s a destination that many travel near and far to visit! My two favorite spots to photograph at are La Jolla Cove and Scripps Beach. Many out of towners prefer to have their family photos taken at the beach. The best times to have your sessions are early morning or right before sunset. Of course when you have little ones, their sleep schedule might dictate the session. If you can have it as close to those times though it would be better! In these La Jolla Scripps Beach Family Photos | S + J were visiting from out of town and this was their first family shoot together!
If you want the majority of your photos with your feet in the sand, then I would opt for Scripps Beach. Especially when you have low tide around sunset, you get so much sand with tons of rocks and cliff backdrops. It looks like a painting. You also have Scripps Pier which is a fun shot to have. You get that infinity feel in the backdrop. Scripps Beach can get busy, especially at the pier. Sometimes you will have to wait a few minutes to get your turn.
Some tips to prepare for your San Diego family photoshoot, have back up clothes for your little ones! They will get sandy and wet! Having back up clothes will help make sure they stay warm after the session. I would also make sure to wait till you arrive to your session to change them into the clothes you want them photographed in. You want to avoid any crumbs from snacks they might eat in the car ride over.
