La Jolla Engagement Proposal Photos | Britt + Joel

As a San Diego engagement photographer, I shoot engagement photos and also proposal photos. What is the difference? In an engagement session, the couple is already engaged. The question has been asked and she responded with a yes. So then they book an engagement session. Normally booked before sending out save the date cards. This is so that you can use the engagement photos for the cards. A proposal photoshoot is when one of the partners is about to ask the other partner the special question. In this type of session, more planning is involved and prep work to make sure it goes down perfectly! In these La Jolla Engagement Proposal Photos | Britt + Joel had shared a beautiful moment in the quiet and private cliffs of La Jolla.

Many San Diego proposals are by locals but also, many people come to San Diego to propose. With almost perfect weather year round, it makes for the ultimate destination engagement location! The more you can help your out of town clients, the more valuable you are to them. That means having calls before the date to review how the proposal will go down. Having videos of the location or scheduling a FaceTime helps significantly for your client to feel familiar with the location. The less they have to worry about, the better!

It’s always a good idea to ask your client to let you know what they are wearing that day so you can spot them from far away. Even better, if your client can text you when they have parked at the location or coming up to the location. This way you can secure the location so no one walks in your path and so you can spot them from afar. The majority of my proposal sessions are at the beach, so I always pretend I am photographing birds, waves or surfers. You will keep thinking that you will be found out, but trust me, you will not!
