As a La Jolla portrait photographer, I get asked to do high school seniors, college grads, portraits just because and also quince portraits. A quince portrait, is when a girl is celebrating her 15th birthday or a Quinceañera. Some celebrate with a big party, others celebrate with a trip. She gets to choose. Nevertheless, they always want to have portraits taken in this exquisite and elaborate gowns and crowns! The colors are vibrant and the texture is intricate. You best believe they are uncomfortable to walk in, so many wear leggings and sweat pants underneath to make it more bearable. In these La Jolla Cove Quince Portrait Photos | AG was a champion walking around the grass and gravel to get some epics photos.
Not only did she brave a heavy dress, she endure some pretty strong winds! These gusts of wind were pretty intense. Hair was everywhere, but we did our best to control it or for me to fix it in post production. The crown helped tame the hair a little bit, but we wanted a variety of looks in the photos. So we had to take the crown off for some. Also, she had brought other props. We didn’t want to have all the props photographed at once. It would be overkill. So we picked one prop at a time.
The positive angle of the wind, is that we were guaranteed a sunset! The day had been stormy and cloudy but that quickly changed with the winds moving the clouds. Thankfully we didn’t get any rain! Definitely plan on helping your daughter with her Quince photo session. Whether it’s helping her walk around in the dress, holding her props, helping adjust her hair. Please note that props are not required. Most girls do wear a crown but after that, consider props optional. There is already a lot going on with the dress.
